This compiles, I remember perfectly when I bought it ... Well, not the exact date but most circumstances. I was in second (1996), it should be at the end of winter as it was pretty good ... They had had to spend the weekend listening to the vinyl from Loïc (his brother was having trouble hiding the cells) and I had this record. I commandeered a class mate who had a booster (dammit impossible to find the model name ... it was red and white checkered with a sort of way to Formula 1) to take me to a 3 Fontaines noon. I returned to school to fill but super happy with my purchase. It does not take much to be happy, really very little to be happy ...
I put the CD on the deck earlier and printing is the same as at the time: there is not shit, the first half really is incomparably better. And in fact, the first 2 thirds are really goods were the classic era.
The brothers of Ärsenik (still accompanied by their cousin Tony Ugly) had only " Ball Trap" (what a slap that) and with "Hell rises to the surface "they were cataloged" horrorcore " (For those who knew the term, otherwise it was most " yeah the m ecs with delirium weird how there cemetery"). Nevertheless it was still a new style that is taking in the gums. When the album "few drops" was released, many were puzzled not to find the gruesome and sadistic atmosphere of these first two pieces. They have always wanted to have defended the horrorcore and took out the whole.
Then there were the kings of freestyle radio, X-Men (even at 3 with Hi-Fi). Since then, I find it's really crazy raps (yes it exists), there are phases that are marked in my tiny skull in capital letters (yo rap) ... but prod me swell as always. " Hang The, The Movie, The Get- ," it's still not a panacea level prod and it has always prevented him from being a big fan of the song.
Especially right after that, there was my favorite band on the compilation: the 2BAL Niggets , more is at full strength since Krokmitten poses as always (but rarely) a verse totally deluded. At the time, I remember that most of the guys I spoke to were convinced that this title is (" 3x More Efficient e") was on the album 2BAL of 2Neg '. And it must always be the case today ... What is true, what about having screwed up the title track of their album on a mixtape? Ben is not so stupid, it makes the pub! And what song and more ... After that, it never regained the rage and the freshness of the twins, Krok, and De Niro on the soundtrack of " Ma 6-T Va Crack-Er . Already the beginning of the end ... One thing is sure, when we took this piece live in the head the room was becoming crazy. It seems to me that after this piece Eben had to descend to calm some excited Wrench St Germain ...
can not remember much today but back then, the first big underground hit in the compilation (which contains more than one in the end) was " Dryer failure" of Polo . An unknown quantity. The prod was dark, clean and efficient. The MC for his part, now I have a little trouble quite understand why there had been excited like this about him. Ok the chorus enters the head from the first listen (" Click click, I'm out of bullets / I emptied my charger I feel bad ). There is a real atmosphere on the title but the level flow is fairly commonplace. Same for lyrics. Damn, I feel more con to remember what made people crazy ... who expected a lot! After another great compilation of the time (" L.432"), Polo disappeared from circulation. There was talk that he is part of the Black Taga, this "super" crew who were grouped Joey Starr, Solo and Polo ... never really had an existence apart from a few dedications .
And on that, we ate the single "public" (late) compiles " bleeding" of Clinic with the brats . They would surely have benefited from being more clear about who was who and who was in which group because it was the shit. For years people believed that Doc Gyneco (personally, I struggled to recognize at first, his voice was more serious than usual and his name was conspicuously absent from the appropriations of the song) was part of the clinic, so no, it was just their "great". By listening again to the track 5, and despite the success of "Playa " I think Butterfly and Charlie Waits (the brats) would have won more assertive individually when you see the flop that their album was the last year. Nevertheless it is always super nice this title, the refrain is immediately hums as if she had listened the night before and the atmosphere very slight jerk that emerges makes the song definitely endearing. We find that atmosphere
décontactée on " The hunt is on " of protected Stomy , Rodents , I rediscovered oddly pleased. The bass is fat, the very funky claps Zouaves and the two manage to make me laugh in their delirium die-the-pussy. Something tells me that when they talk about stuff they do not talk about taxidermy ...
ambience that contrasts with the gravity of another big underground hit (it makes me laugh to use this word) time, "No Better Tomorrow " another unknown, Teemour . Funny how 10 years later, the staging of the piece is sadly still relevant. There had been " Sacrifice Chicken "by the Ministry AMER on the soundtrack of Hate very first level, impulsive ... and there was just the opposite. The riot city's eye view of a disillusioned suburban a panorama of a cold high-risk situation (did you see the style "newspaper journalist Hip Hop"? class eh). Still I was not a fan of his way to rap to Teemour: too articulated too mannered even if I recognize an interpretation consistent with its subject for the blow.
I remember that there had been big flamewar about the thug at the time, Cut Killer was a big fan ... and his album made a flop. I still remember the video sequence shot like that turned on loop 6 (because it was not bad, probably the influence of the great filmmaker Djibril Diop, who was his close family). And then nothing until we make the bins OCCAZ shops.
And then there was " crime pays" to Lunatic , classic among classics. After dancing with the Beat '2 Boul', after recording an album tasks Sages Po '(not out yet ... but that may be looking at the side of Canada in the coming months, it could reappear) The duo would was seconded to join Time Bomb and develop a much darker image than what we had heard of them (well what we had heard Booba on " Everybody In The Round " the This unreleased track on one of two versions of the maxi " Lovers an enigma" of the Elders). To "Hardcore " of Ideal J, I do not think a title has a greater influence people that "crime pays " Booba Ali and complement each other and even if forced too B2O his side "I twisted the face because I am a villain, it was damn strong. Inevitably, it has aged a little but every rhyme announced the writing quality of future residents of the Pont de Sevres.
Besides that, the Mafia Underground ( Da Maad Fungusth - is not about taking such a blaze - and Sté Strausz ) without attempting a breakthrough success with the public (while mine nothing, the song of "I have a mouthful" really was not that bad). It must be said that the public had a lot of trouble recognizing the talent of Sulee B. Wax since he began to photocopy (successfully) the Yanks. Blue Arrow (of Aktivist ), meanwhile, was getting too much respect in "Nightmare " and certainly is a missed opportunity to raise awareness of the label Phat cratz. Too much, too, Boss Raw (close Assassin) which concluded quite the compilation with his " 1 million quail " saved by the refrain "délicaillera" interpreted by Karl.
Ten years after the release, the small rock label trying adventure Hip-Hop and was the springboard for the new school at the time became the heavyweight teams of French rap. Nice progress although I was lost en route (and it was a very hard time to live for them I am aware). If I followed everything, this anniversary is commemorated by the reissue of the compilation (remastered for the occasion), a good opportunity to complete the collection, if it had not because, no less, is a sacred piece. So yes, certainly, and more than for other discs is its historical significance that is the interest of "Hostile Hip-Hop (many titles have been getting old) but hey here it is nostalgic and it then assumes keskonenahafout 'eh?
Selection Vintage: crime pays "by Lunatic necessarily Clinic , The brats and Doc Gyneco for" Bleed All " and a little bit of " 3x More Efficient " of 2BAL Niggets and Niro. I enjoy ...
